Dining Room
An intimate space deserves lighting to match, and dining room lighting is among the most important in the house. The dining room is a multipurpose space used for entertaining, playing board games, eating with loved ones, getting work done and much more. Before making a lighting decision, take a survey of your dining area. What type of mood do you want to create? What type of finishes does the space have? What is the size and shape of your dining table?
For larger areas, chandeliers and pendant lighting are eye-catching solutions that provide warm, ambient light. For smaller dining rooms and those with low ceilings, ceiling flush mounts or semi-flush ceiling lights can offer style while saving space. Not sure what size ceiling light or chandelier is appropriate for your space? Our Chandelier Sizing Calculator and Ceiling Mounted Fixture Calculator will help you put things into perspective.
To improve your dining room décor, use dimmers with your chandeliers, pendants or ceiling lights to create a more comfortable space and reduce glare over the table. For an eco-friendly lighting solution, warm dim LED fixtures and LED bulbs save energy while offering the same comforting, amber glow of halogen and incandescent light sources when dimmed. Be sure that all fixtures have their own dimmers that match the bulb types and/or power supplies.
In most cases, you’ll want to supplement your dining room chandelier or ceiling light with other fixtures like wall sconces, table lamps or floor lamps to create layers of light that make the space more interesting and inviting.
